Kas, The Pearl Of Mediterranean

KAŞ is a charming town with a total population of 47,594 with 5 towns and 48 villages of ANTALYA.

It is 192 km from Antalya and 106 km from Fethiye. The district is adjacent to Eşen Çeyi and Fethiye in the west, Demre in the east, Elmalı District in the north, and Meis Island in the south. The area of the district is 2231 km2 and the coastline is 70 km. It is possible to come across tourists every day of the year in KAŞ, which is a small tourism town. According to the information, documents and archaeological findings obtained from KAŞ and its region, the name of KAŞ in ancient times was Antiphellos, which is thought to be known as Habessos or Habesa in the Lycian language. The discovery of the island of Meis gave it a special beauty, which is why it was named Kaş. Kaş is a unique place where you can spend an unforgettable holiday.

The oldest of the remains from the Lycian, Greek and Roman periods are dated to the VI century BC.

The open-air theater that has survived from the ancient city Antiphellos is from the Hellenistic period. The theater has 26 steps and is built on a hillside overlooking the sea. Agora is located on the southern slope of the city.

Patara harbor is covered with sand today. Many historical artifacts remained under the sands and are being brought to light by excavations today. There is also an 18 km long sandy beach. You can go to Kekova Island, the sunken city and its surroundings with daily boat tours. Kaleköy (Simena) and Üçağız (Teimussa) are here. Also, Üçağız can be reached by road. Teimussa is the oldest Lycian city. There are rock and sarcophagus type tombs. Kekova island is 10 minutes away by boat from here. There are many tombs and ruins on the island and in the sea. The sunken city ruins can be seen while traveling by boat. Just across the street is Kaleköy (Simena). Transportation is only by sea. The ancient Lycian tombs and today's village houses are nested together and back to back. Its castle is still intact. The oldest and smallest of the ancient Lycian cities can be seen in the inner castle, carved into the rock. Located on the road to Demre, near Yavu Village, Kyaneai is an old settlement. The castle (Demre) is 48 kilometers away. The Santa Claus Museum and the ancient city of Myra can be seen here. The rock tombs and the theater are interesting. Phellos, Apollonia, Aperlai, Isinda, Trysa are other ancient places. Gömbe plateau, located at a distance of 60 km, attracts the attention of tourists with its cool waters and climate. Uçarsu and Yeşilgöl, located on the slopes of Akdağ, can be visited. Gökçesu (Salıkent), 60 km away, is an important sightseeing place. Here, the natural wonder Canyon is one of the most visited places by tourists.
